What is Careers Fair 2011?

Following on from Careers Fair 2009 and 2010, we are pleased to announce that we will be running the hugely successful event in 2011 for its third consecutive year.

Young people aged 14-19 are invited to the new SYC flagship Connexions centre in Shoeburyness to meet a number of local & national employers and training providers, not to mention universities and colleges. So whether you are unsure of which step to take next, or would just like a little clarity over your plans, come along to SYC on February 2nd 2011.

What can I expect to see at the Careers Fair?

IMG_5531Careers Fair 2010 was attended by over 57 exhibitors, including employers, 6th Form & Colleges, Universities & Training Providers, including the Diploma Roadshow, who offered visitors an opportunity to discuss not only future career prospects, but also, get information on issues such as benefits, student bursaries, courses and EMA. A sample of last years exhibitors include, University of Essex, Brighton & Anglia Ruskin. SUFC -Goals Project, vinvolved, Crown College & Eden Training. Reed Employment, the Army & the RAF.  Chase High, King Edmund School & Seevic Collge. Trident, Job Centre Plus & the NHS.

Why do I need to come along?

Of course, not everyone knows what they want to do when they leave school, Careers Fair 2011 is here to help you make up your mind or at least make the options clearer to you.

Further Education - You may have heard in the news that thousands of young people will have their university applications refused this year, simply due to too high of a demand for a limited number of spaces. So, what does this mean for you? Nothing if you are not looking to go to uni, but if you are, you will need to bear in mind that it is ever more difficult to secure a place, Careers Fair 2011, will equip you with a number of tips on how to help you stand out from the crowd.

Employment - A number of employers and recruitment agencies will be in attendance offering a range of opportunities especially for school leavers. No need to book an appointment, just chat to friendly advisors & whats better, they are in all one place, so rather than walk down a cold high street on a February afternoon, come into the warmth of SYC and visit employers from across the country.

Last, but by no means least, Southend Connexions personal advisors will be on hand to offer information, advice and guidance about anything from money issues, to health & relationships, youth sessions and much more.
