Who are we?
We are a one stop shop for all young people, aged 13-19 in
Southend, looking for information, advice and guidance. We offer
guidance on anything from careers to health and relationships.
We have four youth centres across town (Shoebury, Focus, Leigh & Cluny Square) and hold a range of youth activities
each evening. For a full programme click here. Never be bored again.
What is a Personal Advisor?
Personal Advisors are Connexions staff that are often based in
schools. Often referred to as "the careers person", these super
people are able to help you follow your path of choice into the
future. So, whether you want to go to university and need help
completing your personal statement or are looking to enter the
world of work and need a bit more information on what the job
involves and how to apply, a personal advisor is the person to
see.
What is a "Targeted Personal Advisor"?
Basically, these super people give you an extra helping hand to
keep you on track, just incase for whatever reason you aren't quite
on course to do as well as you should be doing.
Some might say, targeted Support is designed to provide in-depth
sustained one to one support by a Personal Advisor to young people
with multiple issues working at their pace to help them address
barriers to education, training and employment opportunities and to
enable them to fulfil their potential.
What is a Youth Worker?
Youth Workers are an extremely friendly and busy bunch. They are
often found within Connexions centres holding youth sessions (or
activities to you and me). Sometimes youth workers can be found out
and about, in the parks for example, if the weather is nice. An
example of this is during the summer when Southend Connexions hosts
a huge summer programme of events aimed at engaging young people
(that's you) in positive activities (or fun stuff). However, like
well trained homing pigeons, youth workers will always return to
their youth centre.
Opening Times
All of our Youth Centres are open between 1:00 pm - 6:00
pm for information, advice and guidance "drop in". After 4.30
is when the youth sessions begin, click here to find out whats on in your
area.
