Apprenticeships - Opportunities for Success

Why Apprenticeships?

Apprenticeships are a great way to start towards a professional career, giving you the opportunity to learn new skills and gain recognised qualifications, while getting paid to do it!

Many employers offer apprenticeships as a way for new candidates to gain access to an industry. They work closely with training providers so that the apprentice gets the best out of their role within a company, and the company gets a productive member to their organisation. Apprenticeship qualifications are designed to provide you with practical on-the-job training relevant to the position you hold as an employee, and these qualifications can be used to gain future employment.

Becoming an Apprentice
Becoming an apprentice is just like getting a job: you must meet a certain standard to be eligible for the position offered. Usually apprenticeships tend to be for people of between 16 - 19 years of age, and have a general education (e.g. GCSE's) although the standard required would be stated within the advertisement, so don't be put off in applying just because you don't feel you have what it takes!

How long does it take?
Apprenticeships usually take 12 - 18 months to complete, dependent on the qualification level and the candidates former skills and knowledge. The cost of the apprenticeship is covered by the Government or by the employer; you will not have to pay for your own training.

How to apply
Many apprenticeships can be found on the Apprenticeships website. The website provides you with a base where you can prepare your profile: a list of skills, abilities and credentials used to apply for apprenticeships.

All you need to do is register with Apprenticeships, complete the profile and start applying! (click here)
